Opening Day

December 15th, 2008

The snow season finally got going this weekend here in Washington with Crystal and Mt. Baker both opening.  Here are a few snaps from Baker…

With the snow level around zero, the roads were snow-covered from Seattle all the way up.

Attempt at a Soccer Photo

December 7th, 2008

I just got back from trying to shoot some soccer photos with Shelby.  Ideally, we wanted to find a field and a goal, but the only field we could find without a game going on had all the goals locked up.  We ended up on a tennis court and short on time.  This is the best I got of Jared juggling… hopefully there will be a round two.  Maybe with a soccer field if we’re lucky.  I included our lighting setup below for anyone that’s interested…

Our friends recently got engaged and asked if my wife and I would shoot some photos for them.  We had a few locations in mind and not a ton of time so I went with a pretty basic approach to lighting.  This one is my personal favorite.  I promise it wasn’t staged.

Here’s a few more…

Mt. Pilchuck

November 26th, 2008

We got our first real taste of winter this last weekend on Mt. Pilchuck.  There wasn’t enough snow to ride yet so Andy, Rob, and I went hiking.

Last of Summer

November 21st, 2008

Now that winter is almost here (a few more snow dances and we’ll be back in the mountains) I feel it’s appropriate to talk about summer for a minute.  Ok, so really I was just revisiting some photos from September and I didn’t have this blog at the time to post the shots.  These were from a wake shoot we did on Lake Sammamish with Mike, Dave, Lance, and Mark (thanks guys!).  We took two boats out and I rigged up a backpack with a Lumedyne kit powering two heads for lighting.  Big thanks to Andy for his awesome strobe aim (and for not electrocuting himself… wearing a big battery in a boat may not have been the greatest idea ever).

LG Action Sports Championship

November 12th, 2008

I shot some photos at the LG Action Sports Championship a couple weekends ago (thanks to AGoodReed for the media pass- and the article). It was tough shooting- The lighting was rough, I didn’t bring along a decent strobe or the right lens the first day, etc. At least Shelby reminded me to check what PW channel everyone else was on before firing away… thanks!

Saturday was BMX Vert finals with Pennywise providing some music, and Sunday was Skate Vert and Street finals. Here are some of the photos (more after the jump):
