If Barry Doesn’t Get a Job Soon, I’m Going to Lose Mine
April 1st, 2009Barry doesn’t have a job. He rides his snowboard a lot. I do have a job and that means I ride my snowboard less than Barry. While it does make me happy knowing my friends are out there having epic powder days- you know, “epic” in the sense of face shots, no crowds, not dealing with the so-called “weekend warriors,” it sure makes sitting at my desk, staring at a computer screen in rainy Seattle that much harder.
After a two month dry spell through January and February, the snow clouds decided they would reopen for business and work overtime- dumping over 13 feet of glorious powder in the month of March alone. That was it. I’d had enough. I wasn’t going to let myself slip further into “weekend warrior” status. I wasn’t going to sit in the office knowing my friends were out there enjoying the winter that finally decided to show up. I was going to find a way to get to the mountain. Today was one of those days…

Just another day of responsibility-free powder riding for Barry
The good news is Barry is off to Alaska next week. It’s a lot harder for me to head up there for a few laps before putting in my time at the office, so maybe I won’t lose my job after all.
